Sound Design 2

The musical comedy murders of 1940

In this theoretical design, I wanted the sounds of the show to have a very directional feel especially since the audience is close with the performance. I have 3 speaker zones to cover the stage and audience. The first zone consists of Meyer UPJRs to cover the audience for general music and sounds that don't need to be directional. The second zone consists of Martin DD6s and a Meyer UPJR and those speakers live behind the various doors of the set to allow those sound effects to be more directional. The last zone is a practical for the vintage radio that is seen on the set.

Sound effect montage

In this show, the radio is a staple for a majority of the sound effects. In this montage, my goal was to show the range of the radio starting with the radio being turned on the dark mysterious figure we meet in the beginning then transitioning to them changing the station to an announcement about the oncoming snow storm where the radio goes out because of the severity of the storm, you'll also be able to hear a car trying to get unstuck from the snow, eventually, the storm dies down and the radio comes back with a report of the aftermath and then finishing off with more music from the 1940s.
